Victor the Wolf with Worries by Catherine Rayner
I’m excited to tell you about today’s book partly because it’s just lovely, but also because of where I picked it up. I snagged Victor at a brand new bookshop and not just any brand new bookshop, a bookshop in my neighborhood. The Fountain Bookshop opened in the Washington Heights area of New York City back in November, but even though it’s only four blocks away, this was my first visit. If you do find yourself in NYC do stop by because this little shop is just lovely. Also just lovely, this book Victor the Wolf with Worries by Catherine Rayner.
I was first drawn to this book by the cover. It was sitting up by the cash wrap and little Victor's eyes drew me in; so expressive and cute. Also, the watercolor style is unique and beautiful. I snapped it up without even reading it. I can usually tell if a picture book is going to be for me just by the cover. When I got it home and opened it up this morning I was not disappointed. It’s about this little wolf who has, you guessed it, worries. It’s beautifully written and stunningly illustrated. Not only that it provides actionable ideas for anyone struggling with anxiety woven throughout the book. This is the first of Catherine Rayner’s books that I’ve picked up but it surely won’t be the last.
